The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted two shipments of synthetic cannabis, popularly known as Colorado or Colos, concealed in speakers and bread from the United Kingdom.
The consignments were reportedly intercepted by operatives of the anti-narcotics agency during checks on shipments arriving from the UK.
The synthetic cannabis was hidden inside the items in an apparent attempt to evade detection and smuggle the illicit substance into Nigeria.
Colorado, also known as Colos, is a synthetic form of cannabis that has become increasingly common in Nigeria.
The NDLEA continues to intensify its efforts to disrupt the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs through Nigeria’s airports, seaports and courier channels.
Further details on the quantity of the seized substance and arrests made in connection with the shipments are expected to be released by the agency.
