Nine individuals have been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment each for stealing crude oil from an oilhead in Akwa Ibom State.
The convicts were found guilty of illegally tampering with oil infrastructure and stealing crude oil from the facility.
The court handed down the sentences after finding the nine individuals culpable of the offense, marking another conviction in the ongoing crackdown on crude oil theft and illegal activities in Nigeria’s oil-producing communities.
Authorities have continued to intensify efforts to tackle crude oil theft, which has been identified as a major threat to Nigeria’s oil production and revenue.
