Registered nurse and TikTok content creator Nurse Sugar has opened up about the collapse of her marriage, recounting allegations of emotional and physical abuse, infidelity and the difficult experiences she said she endured before their divorce.
Nurse Sugar, who has more than 700,000 followers on TikTok, shared her story during a conversation with Ifedayo Agoro.
According to her, she travelled to Turkey to meet her then-boyfriend after moving abroad, and he proposed to her during the visit.
She said he later asked her to keep their marriage low-key and have a court wedding in Nigeria without informing their families or friends, allegedly so she could assist him with the process of relocating to the United States. She agreed to the arrangement.
Sugar alleged that her husband would emotionally abuse her and give her the silent treatment for extended periods whenever she refused to do what he wanted.
She said she left the relationship several times, but on one occasion, he sent her $5,000. According to her, because giving is her love language, the gesture made her believe he had changed and she returned to the relationship.
The nurse also recalled their widely publicised wedding in 2024, claiming that her husband insulted and embarrassed her in front of vendors during the wedding preparations. Despite this, she said she continued begging him because she wanted the wedding to go ahead.
Sugar became emotional while recounting an incident in which she alleged that her husband physically assaulted her. However, she acknowledged that she had also charged at him and grabbed his shirt because she was frustrated by what she said she had experienced in the relationship.
She said she was also struggling with the pressure of presenting a happy marriage online while dealing with difficulties privately.
According to Sugar, things took another turn when she woke up one day and saw her husband being called out on a blog over allegations that he was dating another woman and had also asked her friend out.
She said she became obsessed with checking the social media pages of the women involved and eventually underwent liposuction because she wanted to look like them.
Sugar claimed that after the procedure, her husband began asking for a threesome whenever they were intimate.
She also alleged that her husband became engaged to another woman while they were still married. Despite discovering the engagement, Sugar said she remained in the relationship because she believed she could eventually win him back.
However, her account has been challenged by blogger Tosin Silverdam, who said someone close to Sugar’s ex-husband contacted him and provided a different version of events.
Tosin claimed that he had seen evidence allegedly showing Sugar physically assaulting her ex-husband. He also said the source claimed that the ex-husband had supported Sugar financially and helped with her business.
The blogger further alleged that he was told Sugar’s ex-husband was responsible for bringing her to the United States, but that their relationship changed after Sugar began making money from social media and her audience grew.
Tosin also disputed the timeline surrounding the alleged engagement, claiming that Sugar’s ex-husband did not get engaged until about two years after their divorce.
The couple are now divorced, with their marriage reportedly lasting only a few months after their elaborate 2024 wedding.
