Two FUTO Female Students Abducted Near Ihiagwa Regain Freedom

Two female students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), who were abducted along the stretch between the institution and Ihiagwa community in Imo State, have regained their freedom.

The students were reportedly kidnapped last Sunday while travelling along the road linking the university to the Ihiagwa community.

Their release comes after days of uncertainty following the abduction, although details surrounding how they regained their freedom remain unclear.

The identities of the students and whether any ransom was paid for their release have not been disclosed.

The incident had raised concerns among students and residents over security along the route, which is frequently used by members of the university community.

The latest development is expected to bring relief to the families, colleagues and friends of the two students as authorities continue efforts to address security challenges around the institution and its surrounding communities.
