An 81-year-old traditional ruler in Imo State, Eze Dr. Godwin A.E.O. Agbanyim, has married a younger woman in a ceremony held in Orlu Local Government Area of the state.
Agbanyim, who holds the title of Ezeahurukwe of Amike Ancient Kingdom, reportedly celebrated his new marriage over the weekend.
News of the wedding became public after a Facebook user, Anthony Ariwaozo, shared a congratulatory message on Monday, October 26, announcing that the monarch had married on Saturday.
The announcement attracted attention online, particularly because of the age difference between the traditional ruler and his new bride.
Agbanyim is a long-serving monarch in the area. In September 2025, he celebrated his 80th birthday alongside his 53rd anniversary on the throne, having ascended the traditional stool in 1972.
Amike Ancient Kingdom is an autonomous community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Congratulatory messages have continued to accompany reports of the marriage, with the development drawing interest from social media users.
