A Promising Life Cut Short
Justina, a bright and ambitious 300-level Biochemistry student, had a vibrant future ahead of her. In late October 2023, she accepted an invitation to visit her ex-boyfriend, Damian, at his apartment along NTA Road, Ozuoba— a place she had visited before and considered familiar.
But that night turned deadly.
The Horrific Discovery
When police eventually broke into Damian’s apartment after she was declared missing, the horrific scene that confronted them was beyond imagination.
A foul stench filled the room, leading officers to a bag where Justina’s mutilated body was found. Several vital body parts were missing, fueling suspicions of ritual motives behind the killing.
Two Years of Court Battles
Following the arrest, the case proceeded through multiple hearings and lengthy investigations. Today, after two years of waiting, court appearances, and evidence presentation, the judgment was finally delivered.
The Verdict
The court sentenced Damian Chinaemerem Okoligwe to death by hanging, closing a dark chapter that shook the UNIPORT community and the entire nation.
May Justina’s soul continue to rest in peace, and may her family find strength in this verdict.
