  • Ghanaian Man Shares 34-Year Ordeal to Warn Young Men About Paternity Fraud

  • A Ghanaian man has shared a deeply emotional story spanning more than three decades, hoping to educate young men about the devastating consequences of paternity fraud and the importance of taking responsibility for their sexual decisions.

According to him, the experience began many years ago when he met a woman and became intimate with her shortly afterward. Not long after, she informed him that she was pregnant. Because he had been with her, he accepted the pregnancy without question.

However, when the baby was born, something in him continued to whisper that the child might not be his.

“DNA Test Was Impossible Back Then”

He explained that at the time, conducting a DNA test in Ghana was extremely difficult. It required lawyers, approval from a magistrate, and large sums of money he couldn’t afford on a teacher’s salary.

Out of frustration and a lack of means to confirm the truth, he accepted the child, even naming him, hoping one day he would be able to verify paternity.

Despite this, he chose not to marry the mother due to several personal reasons.

    Abandoned at His Gate

When the child turned two, the situation took a shocking turn. The mother reportedly brought the boy to his gate, dropped him there, and walked away.

The child, he says, was weak, sick, malnourished, and showed signs of kwashiorkor. He would defecate on the floor, and worms were sometimes visible in his stool.

Still, the man took him in and raised him as his own for 34 years, providing shelter, education, and support.

Yet through it all, he said he could never shake the feeling that something was amiss, noting the child’s physical and behavioural traits were nothing like his.

The DNA Results That Changed Everything

When DNA testing later became more accessible and affordable in Ghana, he finally seized the opportunity.

On 6th September 2023, he conducted the test. On 20th September 2023, the results arrived — confirming his intuition.

“He was not my biological child. Not even a drop of my blood.”

He revealed that when he sent the results to the mother, she offered a faint apology before blocking him immediately.

Even more painful, he said, was that the young man he raised insulted and threatened him in a voice note a day before the test, believing the truth would remain hidden. After the results, the man never apologized — not even once. As of December 3, 2025, he has remained silent.

Overwhelmed and heartbroken, the father figure removed him from the apartment he had been funding at Dansoman Estate, saying the betrayal was too heavy to bear.

    His Message to Young Men

He concluded his story with strong advice:

    1. Don’t rush into intimacy.

A woman may already be pregnant and seeking a man to claim the child. If you ever have doubts, insist on a DNA test — no matter the age of the child.

    2. Use protection.

Condoms prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

    3. Stay alert and think clearly.

Some women can manipulate men emotionally, spiritually, or psychologically. Never let anyone cloud your judgment or stop you from asking important questions.

    He ended with a warning:

“A single mistake can cost you many years of your life.”
