Osun State witnessed a significant political shift today as Governor Ademola Adeleke officially unveiled the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The governor made the announcement during a gathering that brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across Osun West, Osun East, and Osun Central.
Governor Adeleke revealed that he formally joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, following weeks of wide-ranging consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders within and outside the state. According to him, the decision was both strategic and necessary as he prepares to seek re-election next year.
He emphasized that the people of Osun State are fully aware of the factors behind this political realignment. His move, he explained, is rooted in a commitment to continue delivering good governance and building on the progress already acknowledged locally and internationally.
Governor Adeleke noted that the Accord Party’s core principle of welfarism aligns strongly with his administration’s focus on the welfare of citizens and workers. He added that since joining the party, he has grown increasingly impressed with its philosophy and direction, stressing that the true essence of governance is ensuring the wellbeing of the people.
Welcoming the national leadership of the Accord Party into Osun State, the governor declared that they are now united under one vision for the progress of Osun and Nigeria at large. He reaffirmed his dedication to fostering an inclusive political environment where every group and interest is carried along.
As the countdown to the 2026 elections begins, Governor Adeleke called for sustained unity and collective effort within the party.
