  • NO HIDING PLACE: NOTORIOUS BANDIT LEADER ‘KALAMU’ KILLED IN FIREFIGHT WITH TROOPS”

  • A major breakthrough has been recorded in the fight against terrorism as Nigerian Army Special Forces eliminated one of the nation’s most notorious terror leaders, popularly known as “Kalamu,” during a decisive operation in Sokoto State.

Military sources confirmed that the wanted terrorist was gunned down on Monday in a coordinated offensive carried out by troops of the 8 Division around the Kurawa axis of Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

News of his death triggered wild celebrations across several communities in Sabon Birni, where Kalamu and his gang had long tormented residents with serial kidnappings and violent attacks. Villagers reportedly trooped into the streets after receiving confirmation and images showing the terror kingpin and other gang members neutralized by troops.

Kalamu had been linked to numerous kidnapping-for-ransom operations in the region before meeting his end in the hands of the military.

Reports indicate that the operation was launched to foil a planned terrorist raid on Tara Village. Troops ambushed the gang, leading to a fierce gun battle that left 11 terrorists dead. Several others fled with gunshot wounds, as confirmed by blood trails discovered after the clash.

During the operation, troops recovered eight AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and twenty-six rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Military authorities described the offensive as part of sustained efforts to cripple criminal networks and deny terrorists the freedom to operate in Sokoto State and beyond.
