The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major victory in its crackdown on violent crime following the arrest of a notorious armed robber linked to multiple deadly operations across the state.
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, stormed Iyowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area on December 8, 2025, where they engaged and subdued the suspect after a fierce confrontation.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Ugochukwu Uzor, sustained injuries during the encounter before he was overpowered and arrested. A locally made Beretta pistol and eleven rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
Police sources described Uzor as a hardened criminal with a long record of violent activities. His body carries bold tattoos reading “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy,” believed to reflect his ruthless disposition and the fear he instilled in communities.
During interrogation, Uzor reportedly confessed to leading multiple armed gangs operating across Anambra and neighbouring states. He also admitted to playing a key role in the abduction and gruesome murder of Hon. Azuka Justice, a serving member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, who was killed on December 24, 2024 — a case that sparked outrage statewide.
The police say his arrest marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks terrorising residents.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement through timely information. Residents can reach the Police Control Room via 07039194332 or the PPRO’s line on 08039334002.
