  • Businessman Akin Olaoye Recounts How a Hospital in Ibadan Allegedly Caused the Death of His Brother's Wife

  • In a heartbreaking account shared on social media, Lagos-based businessman Akin Olaoye has narrated the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of his egbon's (elder brother's) wife, Late Lady Oladunni Grace Otitojo (also known as Kemi Otitojo), who passed away in November 2025.

According to Olaoye, who is popularly known online as @akintintollgate, the deceased, who was described as a very healthy and vibrant woman born in November 1962, had recently relocated to Ibadan to develop her farm. Ahead of a planned trip to the United States, she decided to undergo routine laboratory tests at Redeemer's Health Centre in Ibadan.

Olaoye alleged that during the blood draw procedure on November 19, 2025, starting around 9:41 AM, medical personnel at the facility negligently punctured and severed her blood veins in both arms and legs while attempting to collect samples. He claimed this led to uncontrollable and profuse bleeding.

The businessman further stated that the bleeding was so severe that the T-shirt and trousers she wore to the clinic became completely soaked in blood, to the point that the items had to be discarded by the cleaners. He described how the excessive blood loss caused her to collapse, with her skin beginning to bleed, her arms and legs swelling and turning dark due to poor circulation.

According to the account, one complication led to another, as vital organs reportedly began shutting down from the lack of oxygenated blood returning to the heart. By the time she was transferred via ambulance to Oyomesi Specialist Hospital in Orogun, Ibadan, and admitted to the ICU around 1:45 AM on November 21, 2025, it was already too late—described by Olaoye as "administering medicine after death," since the major blood vessels had allegedly been compromised.

Olaoye, visibly devastated, mourned the loss of his sister-in-law, referring to her as an "amazing wife" to his egbon, Kayode Otitojo. He ended his post with the dates of her life: **Late Lady Oladunni Grace Otitoju (Nov 1962 - Nov 2025)**, accompanied by a broken heart emoji.

The incident has sparked outrage online, with many questioning the standards of care at private health facilities in the country and calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of her death. ReportNaija reached out to Redeemer's Health Centre for comments, but no official response had been received at the time of this publication.

This sad event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of professionalism and diligence in medical procedures. May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may the family find strength in this difficult time.

ReportNaija will continue to follow developments on this story.💔
