  • Nollywood Actor Arrested Over Alleged Link to Plot Against Tinubu’s Government

  • Nollywood filmmaker and actor Stanley Amandi has been taken into custody over his alleged involvement in a failed plan to topple President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, according to emerging reports.

Amandi, a veteran director and former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Enugu State Chapter, was arrested in September 2025 alongside several military officers accused of coordinating the purported plot.

Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that Amandi was allegedly contracted to serve as a propagandist for the group, which reportedly planned targeted attacks on senior government officials as part of a wider scheme to destabilize the administration.

    Profile of the Arrested Filmmaker

Amandi is known for his work across multiple roles in Nollywood, including acting, directing and production management. His credits include directing The Album, handling both production and direction for Tiger King (2008), producing Cornerstone (2019), and appearing in the 2024 film Once Upon a Dream.

His last public activity on social media was an Instagram post shared on 19 September 2025, days before his arrest.

Further details regarding the probe remain under wraps as investigations continue.
