EFCC Arraigns Man Over Alleged ₦603.4m NNPC Job Scam, One Suspect at Large

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, February 9, 2026, arraigned Gidado Ibrahim before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, over an alleged job scam involving ₦603.4 million, purportedly linked to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Ibrahim was docked alongside Halimat Adenike Tejusho, who is currently at large, before Justice H. Muazu. The defendants are facing an amended six-count charge bordering on fraud, obtaining money under false pretence and forgery.

At the proceedings, prosecuting counsel, Y. Tarfa, informed the court of the amended charges and requested that the defendant be allowed to take his plea.

According to the EFCC, the defendants allegedly obtained ₦603,400,000 from a victim, Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye, between August and October 2024, under the false pretence that they would facilitate her appointment as the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. The commission stated that the defendants knew the claim to be false.

One of the charges further alleged that Ibrahim, in August 2024, used a forged document titled “Presidential Villa State House, Office of the National Security Adviser”, knowing it to be forged, thereby committing an offence contrary to Sections 366 and 364 of the Penal Code Law.

When the charges were read, Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to all six counts.

Following the plea, the prosecution asked the court to fix a trial date and remand the defendant in a correctional facility. Defence counsel, B.B. Alhaji, informed the court that a bail application had been filed but was not yet ripe for hearing. He requested that the defendant be remanded in EFCC custody instead, citing his client’s health condition.

Justice Muazu, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility and adjourned the matter to February 17, 2026, for hearing of the bail application.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the second defendant, Halimat Adenike Tejusho, who remains at large.
