NDLEA Arrests Six, Seizes Illicit Drugs in Rivers Raid as Officer Dies

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested six suspects and seized a large cache of illicit drugs during a raid on a notorious drug enclave in Ama Hausa, Bonny Island, Rivers State.

The operation, which targeted a long-identified hub of drug trafficking and abuse, was carried out following sustained intelligence gathering by the agency. NDLEA sources said the suspects were apprehended at the scene, while various prohibited substances were recovered during the raid.

Tragically, the operation recorded a fatal casualty, as one NDLEA officer lost his life in the course of the enforcement exercise. Details surrounding the circumstances of the officer’s death were not immediately disclosed, but authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

The NDLEA described the fallen officer as a committed operative who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, reaffirming the agency’s resolve to intensify its crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the country.

The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while the seized drugs will be documented and destroyed in accordance with established procedures.
