Osun Police Arraign Mosque Imam, Four Others Over Worshipper’s Death


 The Osun State Police Command has arraigned the Imam of Ummu Haani Adigun Memorial Central Mosque, Abdulgafar Sakariyah, alongside four other individuals, over the death of a worshipper identified as Ahmed Najeem.


The Imam, 51, was brought before a Magistrate Court together with the other suspects — Kosamotu Hakeem, 50; Folorunso Mukaila, 57; Sakariyau Hafeez, 45; and Abdulwasiu Olatunji, 29. The defendants appeared before Magistrate A. Daramola to answer charges related to the incident.


Although details of the circumstances surrounding Najeem’s death were not fully disclosed in court, the police maintained that the suspects were arrested following investigations linked to the incident at the mosque. The charges were read to the defendants, who listened attentively as proceedings commenced.


The case has since been adjourned to a later date to allow for further hearing, while the court considered issues relating to bail and proper remand procedures. Police authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring that justice is served and urged members of the public to remain calm as the legal process takes its course.


The incident has drawn attention within the community, with residents calling for a thorough investigation and accountability as the matter progresses through the courts.
