Popular Hair Vendor Esther Okereke Accuses Husband of Eight Years of Domestic Abuse, Fears for Her Life

In a harrowing video that has gone viral across social media platforms, popular Nigerian hair vendor Esther Okereke, known for her business Hair House Nigeria, has publicly accused her husband, Justice Okereke Eze Chimere, of prolonged domestic violence and an attempt to seize her properties. The distressing clip, first shared on Instagram and later reposted on X (formerly Twitter), shows Okereke covered in blood, pleading for public intervention and holding her husband accountable should anything happen to her.

In the video, Okereke, appearing visibly injured and emotional, states: "In case anything happens to me, you people should know that Justice Okereke Eze Chimere from Okpala town in Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo State killed me. Know that Justice wants to kill me to take over my house and property." She further explains that upon returning from a business trip to Vietnam, she discovered her husband had taken her house documents and fled. "He has been maltreating me for the past eight years," she adds, recounting how she informed him and his family of her desire to end the marriage due to the ongoing abuse.

The video, which surfaced on February 11, 2026, quickly sparked outrage and concern online. On X, users expressed sympathy and urged Okereke to seek immediate help from authorities and family. One reply read: "She should involve her family members immediately. Let her leave the man and involve police and her lawyers. Please stay safe." Another user commented: "For 8 years. He even took her house documents. Women should learn to leave toxic relationships or marriage." The post has garnered thousands of views, likes, and shares, highlighting the growing conversation around domestic violence in Nigeria.

Okereke, who runs the successful hair business @hairhousenigeria on Instagram, emphasized in her plea that she could no longer remain silent. "At this point I won’t be silent anymore. I need help, I’m coming with my story," she captioned the original post. Reports indicate that similar videos have been shared across multiple accounts, amplifying her cry for help.

Domestic violence remains a pervasive issue in Nigeria, with many victims facing societal stigma and inadequate legal protection. Advocacy groups have long called for stronger enforcement of laws like the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act. As of now, there has been no public response from Justice Okereke, and authorities have yet to comment on the matter.

Report Naija will continue to monitor this developing story. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency or other local support services for assistance.
