A man identified as Nuhu Bakanike has died after his son allegedly poured petrol on him and set him on fire in Kazaure, Jigawa State.
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and has left residents of the community in shock.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Kabiru, allegedly doused his father with petrol before striking a match to set him ablaze. The victim sustained severe burns and was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care.
The suspect has since been arrested by security operatives and is currently in custody for further investigation.
The gruesome attack has sent shockwaves across Kazaure and surrounding communities, with many describing it as a heartbreaking case of family violence.
