President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a new salary structure for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with about 250,000 military officers and soldiers expected to benefit from the upward review.
The new salary adjustment, which takes effect from September 1, is aimed at improving the welfare of military personnel across various ranks.
Under the approved structure, officers above the rank of Colonel—including Brigadier Generals, Major Generals, Lieutenant Generals, and Generals—will receive a 30 per cent increase in their salaries.
Personnel from the rank of Colonel down to Warrant Officer will benefit from a 50 per cent salary increase, while soldiers from the rank of Private to Staff Sergeant will receive the highest adjustment of 80 per cent.
The salary review is expected to boost the morale of officers and men of the Armed Forces as they continue to tackle security challenges across the country.
The Federal Government said the initiative underscores its commitment to improving the welfare, motivation, and operational effectiveness of military personnel serving the nation.
The new pay package will officially take effect on September 1, with approximately 250,000 personnel across the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force set to benefit from the enhanced remuneration.
