No fewer than eight persons are feared trapped following the collapse of a two-storey building in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday morning.
The building reportedly collapsed at about 5:30 a.m. at Popo-Giwa, Madalasi Zhogoro area, off Sijikobi Road, in the Ilorin West Local Government Area.
According to eyewitnesses, nursing mothers and children are among those feared trapped beneath the rubble, raising concerns over the safety of the occupants.
Personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and residents have mobilized to the scene and commenced rescue operations.
The immediate cause of the collapse has not been established, while rescue efforts are ongoing to locate and evacuate those still trapped.
