A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died.
Orbih reportedly passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement issued by his family and signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih.
The late politician was a prominent figure in the PDP, particularly in Edo State and the South-South region. He was also a close political ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Orbih served as the PDP chairman in Edo State for several years and later became the party's National Vice Chairman for the South-South region.
His death was described by Wike as the loss of “one of the biggest trees in the political forest of Edo State.”
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, his children, siblings and other members of his extended family.
The family said details of his funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
