Vice-President Kashim Shettima is expected to join other world leaders in New Delhi, India, for the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit scheduled to hold on September 12 and 13.
Shettima will represent Nigeria at the high-level gathering as the Federal Government seeks to strengthen the country’s bilateral and multilateral relations with key international partners.
The summit is expected to bring together leaders of BRICS member countries and other invited nations to discuss issues of global economic cooperation, development, trade and investment.
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to deepening Nigeria’s relationships with strategic partners and leveraging international platforms to advance the country’s economic and diplomatic interests.
Shettima’s participation is also expected to provide an opportunity for Nigeria to engage with leaders and representatives of major emerging economies on areas of mutual interest.
The BRICS summit comes at a time Nigeria continues to seek stronger international partnerships aimed at attracting investment, expanding economic opportunities and strengthening its position in global affairs.
The Vice-President is expected to hold bilateral engagements with some participating leaders and officials during his visit to India.
